dublab presents…SECONDHAND SURESHOTS (preview) from dublab on Vimeo.
watched this last night, its great. no awesome. these are some of the music they ended up making.
Figured as I’m now an offical blogger(sweet)…id do something im sure has never been done before(kinda like creating a photo album on facebook called “random”) and start posting a track every week that im feeling….new, old or indifferent…
Jas James of paydayla.com put me on this nugget….Japanese funk group who made this funk/jazz fusion record in the 80’s,produced by Augie Johnson….who has produced similar sounding tracks to this one so it may sound familiar off the bat.
The part i love about the tune is the Nate Dogg esc backing vocals..Check it
Growing up i thought metal was the fucking tits,to me it was just guys like Dimebag Darrell or James Hetfield necking 2 bottles of wild turkey, kicking the fuck out of some queer then sniffing lines off a girls tits while busting out belters on the guitar…couldn’t have imagined anything cooler.
Throw in some Posion for the Hair metal dedication alongside Deftones who despite the “nu-metal” tag which developed once metal bands started wearing tribal t-shirts and calling people homies, still were fucking pioneers of there own sound.
and for the cunts that didnt like metal but enjoyed having long hair, bangles and leather chaps….don’t worry bout it….I GOTCH U
1988 - Washington Heights to Harlem NYC…..Teddy Riley was the genius behind the concoction that was merging the 80’s crooner rnb style with hip hop influx ,doing this with his own incredible twist on production, utilising james brown drum samples with heavy chord and vocal melodies.Riley used to sit in his studio on like 173rd st or something like that with ques of major releasing artists at his door for beats.80% of this style of music he created and pioneered…
When u listen to this just think of :
Olive suits with tangerine lapels
Wes snipes rocking the kangol with the black cane and gold chain in New Jack City…..
Triangular Kid and Play cuts with the blonde trim
dance moves like a co-ordinate epileptic
and Halle Berry in Boomerang
I guess dubstep (like everything that gets popular) has become saturated, unfortunatly dubstep for me has gone from bass heavy jams with splices of melody to clowns with a livid wrist on the filter slider…..but either way its still comes thru, had alot more high points then low and in the peak of the underground popularity, this was the jam for me….
2000f and J Kamata broke alongside joke on the digidesign 12 inch in 2009,produced using crazy analogness with more 808 and juno 106 then B B and Q’s sock drawer .Alongside the eerie sample the true credit to this joint lies with the INSANE talkbox melody/hook…..anyway check it out.
