A couple of weeks ago i doubly fractured my leg, seen as i have been laid up i began blackbooking for the first time properly in about ten years. In the interest of bringing you some original content heres some of it, the rest is on my instagram ( @dr_evil ).
I’m not really one for writing reviews on stuff personally, usually I let the images do the talking. On this occasion though I feel the need. I recently picked up some copy’s of The Infamous Magazine , a “graffiti lifestyle magazine” made in Philly.
What initially caught my eye about it was the calibre of the artists featured, Sp.one, Mque, Curve, Agua, Pose, Jurne, Dasar, Robbo and Fuzi to name a few. But after reading them I think the highlight is the overall diverse content of the magazines themselves. Every issue has specific sections designated to tagging, fillins, freights, monikers pieces and then large multi page interviews as all Graf mags do but they also have reviews on kicks, tattoos, skating and other aspects of life aside from actual graffiti but that are common interests of a lot of writers.
They also do “profiles” on writers, one or two pages with some questions and pics. I loved these because for me they were on writers that don’t get so much shine and I found myself researching more of their stuff online etc after reading it. I’m not trying to take away from any of these guys featured infact quite the opposite but I thought it was cool that these mags featured guys that don’t splash themselves all over the internet or have pics sent to all the usual magazines. Being from Philly the magazine also highlights tagging slightly more than your average Graf mag which I really enjoyed, issue 3 has a section on Philly wickeds written by Niser and Liquid which is really interesting and eye opening.
Anyway enough of my rambling check them out for yourself and support a magazine made by writers that are trying to educate aswell as fulfil your aesthetic needs.
