Blue, Green & Yellow (I love soft pastels because I’m old and my eyes can’t handle abrasive colors)
3. Favourite 5 pieces of all time and why – (please include links)
My Favourite movie of all time has to be Bottle Rocket. Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson at their best, the script is terrifyingly well written for a first movie. Love it!
I love anything that plays around with perception so I love Edgar Muellers street art. This one is my favourite:
The game Syndicate pretty much ruled my life as I was growing up, it introduced me to the horrible addiction of gaming. I had it on the Amiga and I got addicted from the first time I played it but I just loved the feel of it and the futuristic artwork.
I’m totally obssesed with the ancient city of Carthage so I love Turners painting of how he imagined the city being built.
Baked Beans are the most amazing food that you can find in a can. They have become a comfort food for me and somehow I just associate the taste as “the taste of Ireland” when we’re away for a long time I only miss Beans on Toast. Beans taste like crap everywhere else in the world apart from UK & Ireland.
4. Favourite city and why ?
My Favourite City is where my family and friends are, I’m a total country boy and am not really cut out for the amount of people in a city so that question is kind of wasted on me I tend to just get panic attacks in Cities.
5. Favourite food / drink /?
I love really simple Italian food, Big Chunky Rustic Food with loads of Tomato, Basil, Olive Oil, Big Crusty Breads, Pasta and a nice Italian Red Wine (Brunello). I’ll also eat and enjoy anything vegetarian.

Cynics and people who Gripe constantly. People who try to further their own lives by bringing other people down and constant negativity. It’s such an horrible trait in a person.
8. Favourite shoe?
Anything that’s cheap/free and fits me. I’m actually terrible and just never have enough money for shoes. I’d just buy a pair of Vans skate shoes if I had money.
9. Favourite 5 tracks ?
This question would probably change week by week but I’ll try to give some tracks that I’ve loved for years…
Not Really a track but Steve Reichs’ Music for 18 Musicians is one of my favourite Pieces of music of all time, It needs to be listened to in full if you have not heard it. Ive only included a link to a sample from it.
Oingo Boingo - “Heard Somebody Cry” - Pretty much choose any of their tracks and I could include it here. I even have a signed guitar by the band, I’m THAT obsessed.
Refused - “The Deadly Rythm” - Feel sick I missed them when they played Ireland, wish I had sense back then. Here they are playing to a few lucky people in Dundalk.
Carl Orff - “Gassenhauer” - Despite the rumours that surround the man this piece is just incredible. I love percussion driven songs and this is one of my favourite examples. Its very a very simplistic, primitive melody that I think everyone can enjoy.
Field Music - “In Context” - Just an awesome song that never gets old.

Eat Shit by Reas and Ghost. This showed that painting trains wasn’t always about a serious style and even when doing whole cars it could be fun. Also it made fun of the police.
Style Wars whole car by Noc 167. This shows why Noc 167 is one of the best subway painters there ever was. His command of styles was evident but even more so his use of color and his great illustration and painting skills really were on display here.
Damp Cavster with Lizards by Sento and Cavster. This was a continuation of the UA crew style of doing whole cars. It was classic and clean and after the cops crossed it out in the layup Sento came back and fixed it before it ran. Amazing!
Lee’s Heaven is Life and Earth is Hell married couple whole car. No one did thematic mural trains better than Lee and this statement was a killer.
Solid Bot Don Riff by Riff 170. This is where mechanical style came from. This car revolutionized the letterform and gave everyone after 1975 a blueprint on what to do. Riff was a one-man style machine.

Australian Export in full effect - Melbourne’s finest AEON flys by to drop some knowledge…

3. Favourite 5 pieces of all time and why – (please include links)
That’s a bit of a tough one because my taste changes all the time.
I can’t think of what are my all time favourite’s but these are some pieces that I like.
Pretty much anything by Roid. The guy is 5 steps ahead of the pack. I’ve been a big fan for a long time.
I really like this Take2 piece. I know it’s just a quick one for him, but there is a lot I like about it. The colours and style are spot on.
This Crime Time piece by Bando. It’s such a classic style. No bells and whistles or fancy colours. Straight up style
Anything by Binge/Death. He is a Melbourne writer who killed it through the 90’s. His style was always so left of field. Most of the stuff he did over 10 years ago is still so refreshing to look at today. This isn’t the best piece by him but it’s one of the only one’s I’ve got at the moment. It’s from 2000. He’s also making a bit of a comeback at the moment which is making a lot of people in Melbourne happy.
There was this really old Duet piece done in Ascot Vale in the early 90’s. I can’t find a photo of it but here is one of his newer Doens pieces.
4. Favourite city and why ?
It would have to be Melbourne. It’s home and it’s the city I know best. But it also has good graffiti and lots of it. Lots of good food, lots of places to drink, good weather and it’s pretty easy to paint compared to a lot of other cities I’ve been to. It’s the good life.

3. Favourite 5 pieces of all time and why –
Any of Mode 2’s early characters could have been used but this is a good example of what I love.
Jeff Koons ‘Rabbit’ has always been since I first saw it in a book in school back in the late 80s one of my fravourite pieces of art. And last year I saw it for real at the TATE for the first time- I found it quite mad to think I had loved this piece for over 20 years but it had only ever been a photo I had seen.
This again isn’t the exact piece I am thinking of but an early DELTA piece when he wrote MESS it was in blue and had little white arms on each letter posing and was flat and 3D at the same time- it could have something to do with seeing it in the flesh aged 15 in Amsterdam after discovering northern lights for the first time- but it has always stuck in my head as one of the best pieces ever!
Soyayrama is one of my all time favorite artists- and his sexy robots are as cool as it gets.
The BIG DAVE’S GUSSET piece you see from the train between London Bridge and Waterloo- this has made me laugh for years and years!

i wanna say whiskey, but the shit kills me the next day. Worst hangovers ever.
Honourable mention to baileys & ice.
4. Favourite city and why ?
This is hard for me. Do i judge on scenery, fun times ive had there, fun shows, etc. Ive had great shows in some boring places id never go to if i wasnt playing.
Overall though, i think Vienna. Its beautiful, really clean, and lots to see, also never sleeps, there seems to be stuff to do every night. Word up to the Waxos, who dont come to my shows anymore im there so much. So word up to Daniel from The Twin Towas from now on, every time i come, hes the only one who hangs out anymore, we drink in a place called….ah i forget, its an Irish bar, oh wait, Waxy Murphys, but we’ve renamed Tits Mc’Gees. They have 1 euro shots there weekdays, so many a night ive fallen out of there.
If you havent been to Vienna you’re playing yourself.
For shows,Switzerland is always fun.
5. Favourite food / drink /?
It used to be Thai, but sadly ive grown a vagina recently in my stomach, i cant really handle spicy food so much.
I HATE Chinese food though, and of course 150billion% of the time when the “what shall we have for dinner?” on tour question comes up, Chinese is always first mentioned, then i have to tell everyone about my vagina, and how it makes me feel shit.
Apart form that im not picky at all.

8. Favourite shoe?
It would have to be the classic Adidas shell toe,its all i seem to own right now.
9. Favourite 5 tracks ?
Ever?
I couldnt say,it changes so often. At this exact moment i would have some Burt Bacharach in there. Close to you maybe, The Carpenters. Also maybe not. Honourable and possible top 5 mention to Patrick Swayze - she’s like the wind. The story behind it is amazing, he wrote it for his wife, they got married in 1975 and stayed together his whole life. That’s so rare in Hollywood.
10. Perfect day?
I honestly cant answer this question without cringing,or sounding really cheesy.
So il say finding 50 euros on the ground. I cant think of anything better, finding 100? Don’t be ridiculous.
11. Whos the most famous person on your phone?

My Dad pushing me out of the way of a car that crashed into him. I must of been about 3,maybe 4. 20. any upcoming projects- shouts – final words !
Just working on a partnership with Marc Stretch of Foreign Legion. We tour all the time together now, its so much fun. He works so hard, as do i (live) so it make sour show better. When hes finished rapping,he doesn’t go into the crowd or to the bar,and “chill” he stays on stage and rocks with me,hyping. So our live show is literally a minimum of 2 hours, up to 4 hours. Depending. We did a show in Switzerland in November, we started at 12am and stopped at 5am. 5 straight hours rocking. So trying to push us forward, get our names as a unit more known.
We had nicknamed ourselves Black Powder and The Smug Brothers (Smug Bros is taken though) We’ll think of something dumb.
Shout out to everyone i know, toured with, rocked with, slept on their couch, slept in their girlfriend, drank a beer with, stole beer from, kissed.
I love you all in different ways. Thanks for caring. I also have music, check out All City Records in Dublin for my vinyl and cds and DJ Flip action heroes.

- J O R tells us why , what and which . . .

My name is Jor and I started Painting Graf about 16 years ago and oil painting about 3 years ago

In oils, yellow, red and blue cause they make the rest. But in spraypaint I’d say Montana-Bruise, Car Plan-Ford Peppermint Sea Green and Hycote-Sandglow
3. Favourite 5 pieces of all time and why – (please include links)
Artz has a certain soft approach to his can control and shapes that many spraypaint users don’t achieve. Even some of the best out there can have a harsh or tense technique. I also love the subtlety of colour in this image and how the background is part of the piece and not separate to it. He can adapt to a wall. The wall contributes to how the piece finally looks.
To me this simple drawing portrays more realism than an elaborate painting or even a photo
This is a still from one of the slickest animations I’ve ever seen “The Secret of Kells”. I love the painterly background and the teeth of the cats shadow. The whole fim has great styles and composition.

1.RensSek Whole car on the S-Bahn of Cophenhagen. Letters never had more swing than those big silver ones on this danish train car from the early 90’s. Definitely my all-time favorite.
Sorry, can’t find a picture in the whole wide web.
2. This Pink T–Kid panel on the old NYC subway.
I feel like the entire Berlin style of the 90’s is based on this single panel.
3. “It’s so fresh” Whole car by Mode2 and the UpperClass. Sometime in the early 90’s from somewhere around Zürich. What can I say, you need to see the picture but unfortunately I can’t find it and you don’t want me to fly back to Switzerland and drive to my Moms house just to search for an old issue of 14K mag.
4. This yellow Kane panel from 1991.This is the first and last piece by a European writer which could keep up with the stuff I saw in Subway art.

15. Last time you were caught doing something ?
Last time I can remember was for commuting without a valid ticket, but my most stupid catch and fine was when I was around 14 years old. I got caught for tagging the cash register at McDonalds which cost me my marker and a full year of being banned from the McDonalds. Believe it or not this hurt me badly cause the spot was next to my school and I seriously believe in Big Mac’s and Cheesburgers. However since then I have never again tagged on a cash register at McDonalds.

Grogans (castle st)
60’s orginal first press glory with excellent artwork and sumptious pint, appeals to young and old ‘mislabeled’ castle lounge on cover, no sound no video. top pub for top people!
Hughes (recent discovery behind 4 courts)
Instrumental very obscure pub on the classic northside dubpub riddim, with crackles and rip seats throughout, worth for quality of pint alone and weekend instrumentals with extended mix on weekends, pipes, guitar & mandolin solos , excellent piece in first press glory (plays vg-, cracks in walls, seats and cover vg)
The international (wicklow st)
noisey press of a slightly rough cut similiar to northsidedubpub riddim, video throughout, b1 side plays vg+ quieter but with comedy toasting set throughout, b2 plays for pickney vg-, some tin whistle and guitar on weekends, strangley attractive piece, some graffiti writting on label.
Stags head (dame lane)
recent rework of a classic, slight degradtion on the b-side with tourist guitar and fiddle piece on weekend, addition of serious female eastern european barstaff a welcome, strictly no audio or video. near mint
The Palace (temple bar)
80s relick of 60sclassic, retains some charachter of original but with tourist additions, great sound throughout the week, with guest appearance from some of the islands finest passing thru, some cracks on walls, a worthy cut.. plays vg+, pint excellent

Second’s out - round two. . . Wicklows synth lord and electronica chin stroker Sarsparilla is up next to be interviewed.
In his own words - ” Sarsparilla was raised in a small synth community in the green mountains of Wicklow. He soon found their small town ways oppressive and formed an escape plan with his then mentor, John Carpenter. These men promptly escaped into the Dublin underground, soon master Carpenter moved to the US, but Sarsparilla stayed in Ireland to forge his own distinctive synthesized soundscapes.
